"On the restaurant menu of life, this is definitely not what I ordered!" I am the mom of two, wife of one (married over 31 years) and recently re-entered the full time workplace. Six years ago, my husband suffered a spinal cord injury while we were on vacation in Hawaii. Permanently disabled, he is unable to return to work. Prior to the accident, we were the typical (or not so typical) "Beaver Cleaver" family. With a son in college and a daughter in high school, we were busy with home, family and sports. I have a life-long love of volunteer work and spent many hours weekly assisting with our church and local community.
Obviously, our life has changed radically since Pat was hurt. Everything physical around the house became my responsibility. Going back to work meant largely giving up volunteer work, which truly fed my soul. I traded in my homemaker/mom apron for the 9 to 5 grind. It is a challenging situation trying to be an emotional support for my disabled husband who lost his identity when he couldn't return to work to giving my all in the workplace to contending with giving up my love of being home, creating a warm environment with the aroma of fresh baked cookies on a rainy afternoon. Not exactly what I had in mind at 50 years old.
What happened to our grand travel plans after the kids left home? Of moving to the country with a small piece of land and a ranch house rambler where we could spend our days in the vegetable garden and our evenings watching the sun go down across the mountain? Ballroom dancing, walking barefoot on the beach, or best of all, riding cross country on Pat's Harley? Those all were snapped in two the instant he broke his neck.
There is a side to the disabled that the public doesn't see unless you are in that situation. And those of us in the support role - especially women - are a forgotten population. We see the struggles our loved ones face each day. It is up to us to provide the emotional support for these men whose egos are demolished by disability. And we know the pain and fear of not having someone available to take care of us. If we hear a noise in the night, our disabled spouse cannot investigate or ease our minds. It is up to us to get out of bed and investigate. If we're on the road and have car trouble, we either call AAA or a friend as we cannot call on the strong man we married to be our Knight in Shining Armor, saving us. We worry about fire if we're not at home - will he be able to get out of the house in time? What if he falls? What if he gets horribly ill when I'm at work? Not to mention the emotional drain of trying to protect the little dignity a disabled person still has.
Yet, those of us in my situation are blessed as well. We are truly stretched beyond what we could ever imagine. We have to rely on our faith, our resolve, and our love for our family to keep us going. I am fortunate to have an amazing circle of friends that provide love, care, compassion, and much needed laughter. Simple joys like fresh brewed coffee in the morning, the sound of chirping birds, playing board games at home, and an autumn drive suddenly become ˜vacations". The appreciation for the everyday is more acute and focused.
No, this life may not be what I would ordered, yet the experience continues to introduce me to flavors I would not have otherwise tasted. My character continues to be stretched, continues to grow, and I am forced to look far deeper into myself than I ever would have had this accident not occurred. This may not be the entree I ordered, but I eagerly await what's coming on the dessert cart.
So why do I want/need/desire this Miraclesuit Makeover? Because behind this caregiving, working, going going going body is one tired female in desperation for some ME time. My #1 love is sun, beach, and relaxation. My #1 problem is swimsuits! With an abundant chest and what my daughter calls "no butt", finding a suit that fits is literally next to impossible. I purchased my first Miraclesuit in 1998 and have worn them ever since. I feel secure, fit, and comfortable in these suits - and the quality is unsurpassed.
Thank you, Cyberswim, for the opportunity to share my story and for my new tankini. I can hardly wait to wear it in Mexico this spring when my daughter and I go to celebrate her college graduation!!"

World's Greatest Mom
Date:February 19, 2009
By ClaireBear1993
"My mom is the most unselfish person I have ever met. She always puts us first. She always buys new clothes for my dad, brother and I and never gets anything new for herself.
She substitute teaches at our school and puts in so many hours helping with the drama club because acting and singing are my passions.
My grandma died suddenly five years ago and my mom was depressed and gained a lot of weight. We moved from Kentucky to Hilton Head, South Carolina. We live very close to the beach, and my mom never wears a swim suit when we go because she is embarrased of her fuller figure. She usually will only wear shorts and tank tops.
I remember the times she would go in the ocean and swim with us and look for sand dollars. I miss those times. It would mean so much to me and my family if you could help her to find a suit that she looks and feels good in!
I love my mom and I want her to look as beautiful on the outside as she is on the inside.
Thank you for considering my mom for your Miraclesuit Makeover!"

Life is good!

"In August of 2003 my husband and I were returning from a long weekend with friends on his Harley Davidson motorcycle. A stray tire from an oncoming vehicle struck us at about 75 MPH. We both suffered sever traumatic injuries and are lucky to be alive. This ordeal has led us to discover what wonderful children, family and friends we have. With the help of all these people we recovered. However, we were forced to retire much earlier than we had planned. We relocated from Montana to my husband's childhood home of Louisiana. Due to the move and my injuries I am no longer able to participate in my favorite exercise, hiking in the mountains. That fact, along with being bombbarded with the delicious and not-so-healthy food of Louisiana, has led me to add a few extra pounds to my slight frame. So, I am really loving (and needing) my Miracle suit. Though it cannot hide my scars, it does help disguise the extra weight. I am grateful to be alive and to be able to spend lots of time on the beautiful Cane River in my Miracle Suits."

"Yes, my story is a miracle for sure. In 2001 I accepted a challenge issued by my husband's Hospice nurse---Do Something For Yourself That You Always Wanted To Do, But Never Did!
After my husband's death I accepted the challenge and instantly knew I wanted to become a certified scuba diver. So I grabbed my Miraclesuit, and at the age of 53 I enrolled in a scuba class. In a few weeks I was certified and soon joined a group of divers for a trip to Bonaire. Diving not only provided me with a new interest, but opened up new friendships with fellow divers. Last year I had the heart racing experience of swimming in my Miraclesuit with whale sharks, the gentle giants of the ocean in Holbox, Mexico.
MY next quest was to become a licensed motorcycle driver, so off to class I went again to secure my license. I purchased my first bike in 2002 and my second bike in 2004. I logged several long distance trips, made new friends and began to date again. My boyfriend was a pilot, so the world of flying in experimental aircraft was opened to me. Again I enjoyed many new experiences and made new friends. This past year, st the age of 60 I was married on February 14 in Port Douglas Australia to my love, Dale. The next day I had the opportunity to dive in my Miraclesuit on the Great Barrier Reef in Australia, what more could a girl ask for? During our honeymoon in New Zealand I took a another big leap, I completed my first bungy jump, it took my breathe away for sure.
So, now you can see why I say my life is a miracle. As the quote on my blog states--"It isn't how many breaths you take in life, it is how many times life takes your breath away!"
My Miraclesuit is packed I am always ready and waiting for a new adventure."

"Dear Cyberswim,
In January my husband and I went to Playa Del Carmen in the Riviera Maya, Mexico. Needless to say, there was lots of sunshine and clear blue water.
Whether we were snorkeling, swimming in a cenote, or just laying on the beach, I was very confident and comfortable in my new Cyberswim Miraclesuit Oceanus with the matching Pareo. The extra tummy support and full coverage allowed this fifty something Grandmother to feel very attractive and stylish, yet modest. I received numerous compliments on this lovely pairing.
Having a pool at home, I spend many Summer hours entertaining in a bathing suit. With five Miraclesuits in my wardrobe, I'm ready for anything! Thanks for making such a great suit.

What a company

"I ordered a captiva swimsuit from the UK on the 21st and it arrived seven days later, well in time for my holiday-now that's what I call service!
The emails about my order were answered promptly even though I initially had made a mistake- I was also a bit nervous ordering from abroad .The swimsuit is a great fit. I would have no hesitation in recommending cyberswim but if ordering from the UK, remember the little 'sting' on delivery ( tax and parcelforce clearance).Even with the little extra to pay at the end, it is still worth every penny. Many thanks to you all at cyberswim
